Let’s Prepare for The Next New Normal
The whole world is currently going through a challenging new experience of the global COVID 19 pandemic. The pandemic has adversely hit the global as well as local national economy with spills at every micro-layer of society, family and individual level. Everyone and every business are trying tirelessly to revive & rise through this pandemic. Despite the sufferings, this has put everyone in a positive trajectory to reflect back upon the experiences, introspect into own potentials/shortcomings and transform for a better and stronger future. Above all, this has taught us a beautiful lesson on humanity and co-existence with a determination of “We will survive and rise through this together”.
With the spread of this pandemic, we have seen and heard about the business shut-down, jobs cut-down and economic immobility. As a consulting and assurance services firm, we were no exception to this new changed harsh financial reality. It is known fact that the initial stages of change management are always the hardest. From enjoying our business days at own business premises, we were confined within our own homes. Instead of doing physical client visits, we had to self-isolate for our common well-being. From one-to-one interactions with our dear colleagues & staffs, we were put beyond just our laptop screens. Who would have thought of such an agony where social distancing would be considered a new normal?
The silver-lining
Within all odds, there is always a silver lining amongst the dark clouds. This was what we have learned as an aspiring firm since our beginning as a business. The entrepreneurial mindset and the never giving up attitude had always shaped us our team with the hard-earned persistence and sustainability. Hence, with a positive spirit, we decided to glide along with this time. This period gave us the opportunity of self-learning and self-development to better prepare us for tomorrow. This period served as a fulcrum to try and shift us from a traditional service firm to a digitally enabled virtual business place. For the strategic shift, we tried and experienced with digital solutions like CCH Ifirm practice management software, Zoom meeting software, Trello project management software, Facebook Workplace Platform, Microsoft Teams Management Software etc. With many trials and learnings, we transformed us from a newbie to a seamless user of these digital tools. These digital tools have now empowered us in more powerful ways to adapt to new ways of learning and new ways of doing things.
Opportunities brought by Virtual office
The downturn in the economy had not only devoid us of the comfort and privileges we had but also brought our business to standstill. However, we were continually striving to pursue our cherished dream of entrepreneurship and were willing to help our staffs/families through this pandemic. This motivated us to explore for new business opportunities beyond these limitations. Physical barriers can’t put limit to our mental capabilities; even more so when we combine mental capabilities with digital transition. That is why, we not just explored within national boundaries but also to looked for our international network/connections to help us through. We were able to start successful partnership with a reputable Dutch based business firm Plieger during this turmoil. Plieger selflessly offered to provide us with business to support us and also help them through their business operations. Both Plieger and us during this period have learned about the multicultural working experience and have now been a trusted partner to each other. Our colleague says it rightly that this has been a “win-win” for both Plieger and us. The trust and the persistence are now paving us ways to more international business connections which we are both happy and proud of.
Marching ahead
All the shifts that has happened in our works as well as new partnerships that we have built has taught us to believe in co-existence and to support each other in hard times. We have become socially responsible business and continually think of ways to contribute back to our community and society. Last but not least, we thus believe that we have a story/experience to share with you all to prepare for the next new normal, no matter how much adversities we might have to face.
